Trump's Wyoming pick loses the primary and the nominee market hasn't caught up
Overnight, The Hill ran the headline: Trump's choice for Wyoming governor loses GOP primary. Eric Barlow, the endorsed candidate, lost. And yet the Kalshi market on whether Barlow becomes the Republican nominee is still sitting at 80%, unchanged, on $113K of volume in the last 24 hours.
That gap is the story. The race has been called. The market hasn't moved. Part of it is mechanical: the question resolves on the formal nominee, and until there's a concession or a certification, the letter of the rule keeps Barlow's number alive. Part of it is that thin overnight books don't reprice a called race the way a liquid one would.
But the practical read matters more than the mechanical one. A Trump-endorsed candidate lost a Republican primary in Wyoming, one of the reddest states in the country. That's a rare, clean data point on what an endorsement is actually worth in 2026, and it happened on a Tuesday night with almost no national noise around it.
Watch the Kalshi price today. Once the concession lands, the 80% falls in a single move, and the endorsement ceiling gets a number attached to it.

Analysis of the Day
Will Russia capture Kostyantynivka by August 31? Resolves in 2 weeks · $224K lifetime volume | NO 32% |
The market has sharply rallied over both the past 24h and 7d, suggesting recent ISW map updates or credible reporting that Russian forces are closing on the Kostyantynivka railroad station specifically, but the NO side still holds more capital at-price ($22,695 vs $13,694) and the historical base rate for similarly-priced markets in this category is low. With only 12 days remaining until the August 31 deadline, Russian forces would need to complete a specific, named geographic capture of a railroad station in an active urban combat zone, a discrete, verifiable threshold that often lags battlefield momentum by days or weeks even when advances are occurring. The sharp price rally is a real signal worth weighting, but the NO holders' larger position and the tight deadline for a precise ISW-confirmed capture keep this well below a majority probability.
