Saudi Arabia tells Europe to eat the shortfall and the pipeline market gives up hope

"Saudis Tell European Refiners They'll Get No Crude Next Month" hit Bloomberg this morning. The Polymarket question on the East-West pipeline restarting by September 22 dropped 14 points to 34%. WTI is holding above $100, up more than 17% on the month.

The pipeline has been down since September 11. For a week traders treated it as a diplomatic hiccup, something that gets patched up in a back room before it hits physical flows. This morning's headline said the opposite: Aramco isn't patching anything, it's picking who eats the shortfall, and Europe drew the short straw.

That's what the price drop actually means. Cutting off refiners a full month out is not the language of a company expecting to be operational by Monday. The crowd read the same signal and repriced the restart from a coin flip to a long shot.

Crude sitting above $100 with the pipeline dark and Europe told to wait means this is now a supply story, not a headline story. Watch for Aramco's next allocation notice, and whether any Asian buyer gets the same call."

Analysis of the Day

Will Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva finish in second place in the first round of the 2026 Brazilian presidential election?
Resolves in 2 weeks · $789K lifetime volume
NO
24%
Brazilian polling as of mid-2026 consistently shows a three-way race among Lula, Bolsonaro (or a Bolsonaro-aligned candidate), and a centrist challenger, with Lula's approval ratings in the low-to-mid 30s making him competitive for first or second place but not a lock for either specific slot. The resolution criterion is narrow, Lula must finish exactly second, not first and not third, meaning even a strong Lula performance resolves NO if he leads the field, and a weak one resolves NO if he falls to third.
